Conservation and Animal Documentaries

Filming that directly relates to Colchester Zoo’s conservation mission will be considered favourably and in some cases fees may be waived.

Commercial Filming & Photography

Photography for commercial purposes is not permitted without the permission of the directors. All requests for commercial filming and photography at Colchester Zoo are considered on an individual basis and must be made in writing or via email. Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks notice prior to filming. For commercial filming and photography a fee will be charged. The charge includes a chaperone in the zoo whilst you are on site.

General Visitor Photography
Visitors are welcome to take their own photographs at the Zoo we just ask that you respect other visitors and the animals. We kindly ask that you;
Respect the animals, do not bang on glass or any other means to attract their attention
Do not film/photograph any other visitors
Do not obstruct pathways or viewing of animals
Do not entice animals to act in an unnatural behavior

Photography Sales

Whilst we encourage all of our visitors to take pictures, we would like to ask all those who would like to sell prints of our animals to contact our Marketing Team via email at marketing@colchesterzoo.org for permission. We kindly ask that a contribution from the sale of the prints.
