Things are buzzing over at Billy Joe’s Path located at Chimpanzee Lookout, where our forest dragon family just welcomed a new member! A young female at just one year of age, has joined the group, increasing the size to three females and one male. Despite being much smaller, she’s full of confidence and is often spotted basking in the sun – keep an eye out for her!

Over in Iguana Forest, we’ve welcomed Ari, a stunning 4-year-old green iguana. With an orange back, green underside, and distinctive horned nose, she’s hard to miss! Ari has joined long-time residents Fernando and Pusia. Although she’s a little shy, preferring to stay in the higher branches, she’s sure to make her presence known soon.

We’re also thrilled to introduce a black tree monitor to our Heart of the Amazon habitat! This 13-year-old female has come all the way from the Cotswolds, bringing a brand-new species to our zoo. Though she’s still getting comfortable in her new home, she can be seen venturing out more and more each day. If you are struggling to spot her, be sure to look near her heat bulb or around the cork bark. We hope to introduce a young male to the habitat in the near future!

If you’re heading to Feathers of the Forest, don’t miss out on the lively interactions of our crested wood partridges! We’ve introduced three new females to the group, from Tropical World, bringing our total to five females alongside our single male, Ben. With so much activity, it’s a joy to watch them! Plus, Ozzy and Violet, the Victoria crowned pigeons, have happily settled in with their new neighbours, and you’ll often see them sharing breakfast with their new feathered friends.

Make sure to drop in to these areas of the Zoo on your next visit, see if you can spot the new additions to our family at Colchester Zoo.
